Sardinia is confirmed as one of the operational pillars of Ciclat Trasporti Ambiente, and the recent confirmation of the management of the urban sanitation and street sweeping service for the Municipality of Alghero confirms this.
This new award represents the validation of a model that focuses on sustainability and the enhancement of local expertise.
An investment in the future of the territory
The new contract, launched on February 5, provides for an 8-year commitment worth 80 million euros. An operation that has a direct impact on employment: during peak seasons, the associated companies Econord Sardegna and Ecoflap guarantee work for over 100 people.
“Seeing the project proposed for this new tender rewarded confirms the vision of our procurement office and, above all, the work carried out in the territory by our partners” commented Lucilla Fabrizzi, president of Ciclat Trasporti Ambiente.
Sustainability: from fleet to short supply chain
One of the determining criteria for the award of the contract was the focus on reducing environmental impact. Ciclat’s strategy for Alghero operates on two tracks:
- Technological innovation: the introduction of electric vehicles in the historic center and the use of HVO biofuel for the rest of the fleet, drastically reducing CO2 emissions.
- Short supply chain: the management of materials (glass, plastic and paper) takes place through delivery to the Ecojanas plant in Sassari, of which the cooperative is a partner, optimizing logistics and reducing the kilometers traveled by waste.
