“Near miss reports are made by filling out a form, to be deposited at predetermined collection points,” explains Silvia Fabbri, Health and Safety Manager (RSPP) at Ciclat Trasporti Ambiente. “Periodically, personnel from the Safety Office collect the forms and process the reports. A structural investigation follows to identify the root cause.”

There are three phases in the management of near misses: assessment, identification of causes, and implementation of corrective actions. The goal is to ensure the event does not recur, which may involve introducing changes (structural, organizational, procedural, and behavioral).

“According to our data, 90% of near misses in recent months were caused by unsafe behavior of personnel,” continues Silvia Fabbri, Health and Safety Manager at Ciclat Trasporti Ambiente. “For this reason, we must continue to discuss it and provide training to increase awareness and attention, introducing procedures that minimize risks for workers.”
