Ciclat Trasporti Ambiente, a cooperative based in Ravenna that provides urban sanitation and transportation services throughout Italy, has approved its 2024 financial statements, recording growth and further financial consolidation. During the shareholders’ meeting held on Saturday, June 28 in Ravenna, the cooperative’s board of directors was also renewed. Lucilla Fabrizzi was elected as the new President—the first woman to lead the cooperative—while Domenico Greco was confirmed as Vice President.

I sincerely thank the outgoing president and board members for the work they have done and the dedication they have shown over these years. I will approach this role with a sense of responsibility and a commitment to represent our organization in the best possible way, conveying the values that guide us, both within the cooperative and externally with our stakeholders.”

Financial Results

Regarding the figures, production value reached €217.5 million, representing an increase of 4.5% compared to 2023. These results supported profitability margins, with a gross margin of €7.8 million and a profit approved by the assembly of €716,000.

“The 2024 performance far exceeded our expectations,” stated Cesare Bagnari, Chief Executive Officer. “The municipal waste management services market was dynamic, and rates were also satisfactory. Most likely, after years of double-digit growth, 2025 will be a year of consolidation and portfolio defense.”

At the financial level, the positive 2024 results enabled prudential provisions and further consolidation of net equity, which now exceeds €18.2 million (€17 million in 2023). Financial indicators are also positive, with Net Financial Position showing further improvement, now positive at €485,000, and EBITDA substantially stable at €4.5 million.

Sector Performance

Both the municipal waste management services market and the transportation sector are undergoing a phase of evolution, and after years of significant growth, Ciclat Trasporti Ambiente is seeking greater profitability for its members. “Our objective,” adds Bagnari, “is to improve the economic conditions of members by increasing the profitability of contracts. This applies both to the transportation sector, which has long been experiencing a phase of stagnation and margin erosion, and to the environmental sector, where non-uniform regulations and procurement systems make the market uncertain and competitive. Our current priority is to acquire only profitable and well-organized contracts, while maintaining high standards of quality and efficiency.”

The Ecojanas Facility in Sardinia

In 2024, the Ravenna-based cooperative launched important projects, including a waste storage, sorting, and treatment facility in Sardinia. The facility is managed by Ecojanas, a company in which Ciclat Trasporti Ambiente holds a 24% stake, and after beginning an initial phase of operations in the latter part of 2024, it consolidated operations in the first months of 2025. “Initially,” emphasizes the CEO, “we handled only the storage of glass waste, while with the facility upgrade and subsequent certifications, we also began receiving, pressing, packaging, bundling, and sending paper for recycling to industry consortia. In the coming months, we are awaiting authorizations for plastic treatment, and at that point the facility will be fully operational.”

Organizational Consolidation

The long growth phase of Ciclat Trasporti Ambiente has also been supported by a series of organizational consolidation actions and qualitative service improvements. Among the latest achievements is obtaining the UNI PdR 125:2022 Gender Equality certification, which joins the many voluntary certifications already adopted, and the launch of the “Member Rating” project, a new system for monitoring financial statement indicators and compliance of member companies, used to make service allocation more transparent and objective.

Board of Directors Renewed

During the assembly held on Saturday, June 28 in Ravenna, the renewal of corporate positions for the next three-year term also took place. The new board members are as follows.
