“2023 was a year of stabilization and growth, both in terms of turnover and managed services.” Gianni Angeli, President of Ciclat Trasporti Ambiente, thus summarizes the cooperative’s performance following the start of a new working year. “With the team,” he adds, “we are already considering how to implement, together with our 210 members, the range of services offered in order to strive for an increasingly complete and precise service across the territories.”

Recently, the company, which already handles urban waste management in 10 Italian regions, also expanded into Campania with a contract in the Municipality of San Giorgio del Sannio and one in the Municipality of Capua for a total value of 15 million euros and a duration of 5 years.

The release of the Atersir tender for waste management in the Province of Rimini is also expected for 2024: the contract will have a duration of 15 years, and Ciclat Trasporti Ambiente, as already experienced in the similar tender in the Ravenna and Cesena areas, is preparing to participate alongside other local companies.

But 2024 will not only be a year dedicated to commercial growth: “We will continue the work of replacing vehicles below Euro 5 to ensure services with a reduced environmental impact, and the member rating activity will also continue,” adds the President. “What we aim for is the growth and maximum development of each of our members. The way we have deemed most appropriate is to support them through training and certification paths to enhance their skills and organization.”

A further focus of the cooperative for the coming year is, in fact, brand development, an objective that is also achieved through the growth of its members: “The name of Ciclat Trasporti Ambiente depends directly on the members who, through their work, create its identity,” explains Angeli. “Our cooperative is already recognized for certain distinctive values such as legality and transparency, and we want the quality of all the services we provide in every single area and territory to be based on these cornerstones.”

At the same time, projects are moving forward regarding the management of waste storage, selection, and treatment plants—projects that Ciclat Trasporti Ambiente has launched both in Italy and abroad. In Italy, in particular, two investee companies have been established: Stargreen in Basilicata and CFG Ambiente in Toscanella di Dozza (Bologna), which will manage plants to create new raw materials (CFG) and temporary storage for subsequent transfer to final recovery plants (Stargreen) starting from urban waste. “In addition to these two activities, which should materialize once the authorization processes are completed (2025), we are acquiring an existing plant in Porto Torres (SS) together with one of our Sardinian members. The plant is undergoing renovation and will allow us to manage the selection of waste for recycling directly in Sardinia, where we develop numerous services,” highlights Angeli.

As for abroad, however, together with the Ciclat Consortium and the companies Roma Costruzioni and L’Operosa, Ciclat Trasporti Ambiente has acquired land in Poland where a waste depot will be built. The construction timeline anticipates the facility becoming operational in 2026. “Our vision includes the development of activities abroad, and we will continue to consider new opportunities, obviously always together with the Ciclat Consortium. There are many projects in the field,” concludes the President, “but the team, understood both as the membership base and the workers, is motivated and cohesive, and we believe this is the ideal starting point.
