The Legambiente initiative, established in 1994 and sponsored by the Ministry of the Environment, rewards local communities, administrators, and citizens who have achieved the best results in waste management: separate waste collection sent for recycling, as well as purchases of goods, works, and services that have enhanced materials recovered through separate collection.
In 2019, 32 municipalities managed by CICLAT were awarded.
